Common Questions

  • Is there a penalty if I prepay this debt?

No, there is no a penalty if you pay early.

  • What happens when I make the last payment?

Knightshead will provide you with a signed release.  The form of release depends on the type of debt being released.  If your debt is connected to a court judgment or the settlement of a court judgment, then you may wish to receive a release that you can file in the court’s records.  If a judgment has been abstracted in the county clerk’s records, then you will want to request a release of abstract of judgment that can be recorded by that clerk.

  • Is there a cost to get a release after I have paid in full?

Knightshead will prepare, at no cost, a one time, standard form general release and mail the original signed release to you for recording.  However, if you provide your form of  release there will be a charge to have an attorney review your form of release.    If you require another original or copy of any release, then there is a charge for any replacement release(s) requested after 60 days from the date your final payment on your debt.

  • How long does it take to get my release?

Ten business days, unless you pay by certified check or wire transfer.
